About me

Sonia

I created Sensory Somatic Alignment (SSA) from a deep passion for helping children and young people who have experienced trauma, emotional overwhelm, sensory challenges, and nervous system dysregulation.

Throughout my years working in healing, bodywork, and therapeutic support, I repeatedly witnessed something important: many children struggle not because they are “difficult” or “defiant,” but because their nervous systems are carrying experiences that their bodies have not yet learned how to process and regulate.

SSA was developed as a trauma-informed, body-based approach that helps children reconnect with safety, regulation, confidence, and emotional wellbeing through sensory integration, somatic awareness, therapeutic play, and nervous system support.

My work focuses on understanding what a child’s body is communicating beneath the behaviours we see. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with this child?”, I ask “What is this child’s nervous system trying to tell us?”

Through gentle, engaging, and individualised sessions, I support children to:

• Develop emotional regulation skills

• Build body awareness and self-understanding

• Improve sensory processing and integration

• Reduce overwhelm, anxiety, and dysregulation

• Strengthen confidence and resilience

• Create greater feelings of safety and connection

Every child is unique, which is why no two SSA sessions are the same. Each session is carefully adapted to the child’s individual sensory profile, developmental needs, emotional capacity, and personal goals.

I believe healing happens when children feel seen, understood, and safe enough to express themselves authentically. My role is not to “fix” children but to support their natural capacity for growth, regulation, and wellbeing.

At the heart of SSA is a simple belief:

When a child’s nervous system feels safe, learning becomes easier, relationships become stronger, emotions become more manageable, and their true potential can emerge.

I am committed to providing a compassionate, respectful, and trauma-informed environment where children and families feel supported throughout their journey.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about SSA. I look forward to supporting your child in building greater regulation, confidence, and wellbeing.
